Little Branch Cafe was envisioned as an intimate and cozy bistro that could act as a get-away from the home or office for the Chicago South Loop community. Inspired by the notion of a European Bistro -- that eclectic combination of coffeehouse, bar and restaurant serving delightful meals and beverages in a modest, well-designed space -- sisters Soo and Sang Choi and their partner Kevin Heisner envisioned a space as a root for the "little branch" that would bud and grow. It starts with a small step. A root to a small branch. The name became a symbollic gesture toward the growth of the owners, the employees, the community, and the business itself.Little Branch opened its doors on September 21, 2007. Since that time, LBC has expanded to a full scale bistro that includes weekend brunch, a full dinner menu, hot panini sandwiches for lunchtime, and even a full bar with an excellent selection of mixologist-inspired cocktails, exciting wines, and a fabulous selection of domestic and foreign brews by the bottle.LBC seeks to ensure the use of the freshest ingredients and has maintained this stance throughout the venture. Starting with the coffee/espresso offerings, LBC selected local roastery Metropolis for their freshness and exquisite attention to detail. The pastries offered by the cafe are either baked in-house to assure their quality or brought in daily from local artisan bakeries. The subsequent lunch, brunch, dinner, and alcohol menus follow the same model, using seasonal fruits and vegetables to create not only a meal but an experience. LBC doesn't go overboard on the ingredients, choosing instead to focus on the overall palate of the dish to ceate a memorable, lush flavor.
