Little Branch Café was envisioned as an intimate and cozy bistro that could act as a get-away from the home or office for the South Loop community. Inspired by the notion of a European Bistro -- that eclectic combination of coffeehouse, bar, and restaurant serving delightful meals and beverages in a modest, well-designed space -- motivated Soo Choi, Sang Choi, and Kevin Heisner to envision a space as a root for the little branch of the business that would bud and grow. It starts with a small step. A root to a small branch. The name became a symbolic gesture toward the growth of the owners, the employees, the community, and the business itself.
Little Branch opened its doors on September 21, 2007. Since that time, we have expanded the kitchen to include a weekend brunch menu and dinner for the evening, and weve added a full bar with an excellent selection of wines and beers.
We wanted to ensure that we used the freshest ingredients and have maintained this stance throughout the venture. Starting with our coffee, we selected local roastery Metropolis for their freshness and equisite attention to detail. We then moved onto pastries, the majority of which are baked in-house or delivered fresh daily. The subsequent lunch, brunch, dinner, and alcohol menus follow the same model, using seasonal fruits and vegetables to create not only a meal, but an experience. We dont go overboard on the ingredients, choosing instead to focus on the overall palate of the dish to create a memorable flavor.
